meet the animals on the farm!

scottish highland cattle
HIGHLAND CATTLE ARE THE OLDEST BREED OF CATTLE ON RECORD.  tHEY EXCEL ON FORAGE TYPE PASTURES AND DURING THE HARSHEST MICHIGAN WINTERS.  tHEIR DOUBLE LAYERED coat gives them extra warmth.  because of this double coat they also do not build the extra outer layer of fat like other cattle breeds.  Their meat quality is excellent with a higher percentage of protein and lower cholesterol percentage.

We are just starting to build our fold (highland herds are referred to as folds) and will be offer grass feed beef in 2022.

Glouchestershire Old SPots (GOS)

our hogs are a heritage breed that are known for their docile nature, great mothering skills and forage abilities.  We raise our hogs in woodlot pastures where they have plenty of room to roam and do what a hog does.  they are fed non-gmo feed, fresh produce and get to forage to their hearts content.
we will be taking orders for 2021 heritage pork the beginning of April.

Nubian Goats

we have a small herd of nubian goats that help us clean up the overgrowth on the farm.  they are a great dairy breed and make a wonderful addition to the farm.
our entire herd will be for sale in the spring of 2021

Eggs

we have several breeds of chickens and ducks that roam the property helping to keep our bug population down.  everyone is fed a non-gmo feed, produce scraps and free range forage. this makes for the tastiest eggs with deep orange yokes.
